Last Day of January

I didn't get too many posts out this month, January is not my favorite month but it has finally come to an end.  Here are some pictures of that capture a little bit of the personality of our neighborhood in the winter.  Enjoy and stay warm!
Love that we are close to the Mississippi River - beautiful!

True!  Our neighbors all keep an eye out for each other.

Minnesota Nice - Even in January

One of my favorite things about our neighborhood are the people you meet.  I don't think I have ever gone for a walk around the block without someone waving or stopping to talk.  I realized as I was walking today how few people I actually know their name.  I think I will work on that this year.  Today I met a man named Dave, I've actually talked to his wife before but don't recall knowing his name.  I waved at Bonnie who offered me some hot coffee - I would have taken her up on it had I not already consumed 2 cups of coffee.  Winter is a hard time to keep up with people, we tend to stay warm in our homes wishing for spring.  It's amazing how warm you can feel with a smile from a neighbor.

It's not too bad out today.  Ellie and I bundled up for an invigorating walk through the neighborhood. There was a little bit of snow overnight which made it quite beautiful.

Warm "Good Morning" without stopping progress.

Bonnie sitting on her front porch enjoying her coffee.
Now this man knows how to dress for Minnesota!

If you are looking for a place to meet people and enjoy the outdoors we have a nice skating rink near the park just waiting for the skaters to arrive.

Thanks for joining us on our photo journey of the neighborhood - until next time!

A New Year

It's January in Minnesota, which means it's cold and beautiful.  I've decided that I want to spend the year showcasing what I love about my neighborhood here in Brooklyn Center.  I don't have a fancy camera or any special talent but I love my neighborhood.  I think by going out and capturing the everyday life in our little neck of the woods I will have an even greater appreciation for this wonderful place that we call home.  I'm looking forward to meeting some new faces and seeing things with fresh eyes.  My first photos are of my neighbor Scott and his dog Max.  I love looking out my window and seeing Scott and his kids play in the snow - it wasn't that long ago that my big teenagers were outside playing for hours.  It's nice to see a friendly face when the winter months get long, but also Max is just pure entertainment.
